New addition to the family: Shadow
So we’ve been um-ing and ah-ing since Christmas last year about getting another dog. Someone to keep Max company during the day and to play with. We wanted to get a big dog but also one that’s got a peaceful personality and good with children. Which was why almost six years ago we decided on getting a Golden Retriever, Max.
We’re not interested in having to hassle with breeding and puppies, yes they’re cute but a lot of work too so we decided we wanted another male.
Dina did some searching on Gumtree and came across a few posts with various puppies for sale. Then we came across the following entry – just look at that face? He’s a cross between a Siberian Husky (mom) and a Golden Retriever (dad).
We saw the advert on Monday already but I had meetings on Monday and Tuesday evening so couldn’t go and see the puppy earlier. So I arranged to go and meet the family and see the puppy this evening. The idea was to go and have a look and see if we liked him and decide whether to purchase him or not – well, just after seeing the photo alone it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that he’d be added to the Baroutsos Farm.
And so, welcome to the family, Shadow!

Perfect combo Shadow is, a very good looking pup. Nice one bud, know the process of going through getting a new dog is a mind twist, for lack of a better word! Many happy memories with him.

Thanks everyone. He (so far) has a very good and quiet nature about him – still investigating everything but seems to be getting on well with Max. Spookie (our cat) is not too sure about this new addition, well not just yet anyway.

Haha, we must definitely get them together sometime soon. I forgot how much hard work it is having to clean up after a puppy and the constant (well for a couple hours) of howling and crying coming from the bathroom. I think I got about 4 hours less sleep last night than I normally do.

By ons was dit altyd die ou wat die stront eerste gesien het in die moeilikheid. Ook nie ‘n “foolproof” sisteem nie… lol

Your boet’s dog looks great. Haha, no, not copy-dogging – the kids were watching Eight Below and liked the name Shadow – so that’s where it came from.
