Posted in General on January 1st, 2011 by Deems

With each year that passes the fireworks presentations around the world seem to be getting better and better – this past new year’s eve celebrations were no different.

As always Sydney definitely didn’t disappoint. London put up a good show too, nice synchronization and Dubai offered something different.

Entering 2010 with a bang!

Posted in Family, General, Photography on January 1st, 2010 by Deems

While we spent new year’s eve with family quietly at home, others, around the world, celebrated the end of one year and the beginning of a new one. And in typical Boston.com Big Picture fashion they’ve put together another great collection of photos from around the world – enjoy!

People all around the world gathered in groups large and small last night to usher out the previous year, and welcome the arrival of 2010. Under a rare New Year’s Eve Blue Moon, crowds watched fireworks, cheered, made resolutions, and counted down to midnight. 2010 is the year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac, signifying a year of bravery and courage. Collected here are some photographs of people across the earth as they welcomed the new year in many different ways. (38 photos total) – source Boston.com

It's 2009!

Posted in Family, General on January 1st, 2009 by Deems

We had a great Christmas with family at our house, with way too much food. A few days later it was new year’s eve and we spent it with friends eating delicious oxtail potjiekos, drinking quite a bit and playing texas hold’em till 4 in the morning. Only to get up 5 hours later, get ready to go to the folks for new year’s day lunch with family. It feels like we’ve been eating non-stop for the last week! Now it’s over and we’re winding down as we head on to the weekend before the first week of work starts.

2009 is going to be the year, I just know it. My wife read my horoscope for the new year and it said this was going to be my year and things are going to look really good for me financially. Well, lets hope that works out, I’ve been working hard at it for the last week and a half, in preparation :-) Watch this space!
